What should I Bring?

🥤 Water Bottle

👕 Rashguard (short or long-sleeved)

🩳 Athletic Shorts (Shorts without pockets are recommended)

🩴 Sandals or Crocs (To wear when stepping off the mats and help keep our training area clean)

😁 Mouth Guard (Recommended, but not required)

What to expect:

Our Adult No-Gi Jiu Jitsu class is open to all skill levels, ages 13 and up.

Training is centered around the Constraints-Led Approach (CLA), which prioritizes live, situational learning over excessive static drilling. Rather than memorizing techniques in isolation, students are placed in realistic grappling scenarios that encourage exploration, adaptation, and problem-solving.

Through guided live training, athletes develop the skills that matter most in grappling: timing, awareness, decision-making, and the ability to solve problems under pressure. Specific techniques are introduced as needed, but the primary focus is learning how to effectively apply Jiu Jitsu in dynamic, unpredictable situations.

Whether you're stepping onto the mats for the first time or you're an experienced grappler looking to sharpen your skills, you'll find a challenging, high-energy, and supportive training environment.

Jiu Jitsu is hard—and that's what makes it rewarding.

Come with an open mind. Be willing to try new things. Leave your ego at the door, and be ready to learn.

🩳 Athletic Shorts (Shorts without pockets are recommended)

🩴 Sandals or Crocs (To wear when stepping off the mats and help keep our training area clean)

What to expect:

Our wrestling program takes the most effective concepts and techniques from wrestling and tailors them specifically for No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu and submission grappling.

Learn how to close distance, create takedowns, control positions, and stay connected while accounting for the submissions, positional exchanges, and unique demands of grappling. Rather than training wrestling in isolation, we focus on how wrestling skills actually connect to Jiu-Jitsu—from the initial shot all the way through establishing dominant control.

Classes emphasize stance, motion, hand fighting, takedowns, finishes, mat returns, scrambling, and positional control, with an emphasis on staying safe from submissions and transitioning directly into the next phase of the fight.

Whether you're a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner looking to improve your takedowns or a wrestler looking to add submission grappling to your skill set, HTWNJJ Wrestling is built to bridge the gap between wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu.
